Education Support

​We have divided our Education Support Program into a tiered program, to ensure the growth, learning, and development of our team. Below are the purpose and qualifications of each of the level. The positions are listed in minimum age requirement order.

All students who would like to join our Ambassador Education Support Team must first complete a training in order to apply for a position. Dates will be announced and students can enroll in these classes via the Customer Portal.

ART DEPARTMENT

The Art Assistant position would be a good fit for someone who would like to get involved in the Ambassador Program who has a passion for children and art, and wants to be in the art classroom. It is a great opportunity to learn the basics of our art classes and how our Assistants work within the classroom. 
Qualifications:
  • Must be 10 years of age or older
  • Currently enrolled at Modern Motion
  • Available a minimum of 2 hours per week for assigned sessions
  • Able to complete simple tasks with minimal supervision once given direction
  • Must be friendly and respectful of co-workers, students, and parents, and are able to work cooperatively with others
  • Must be able to provide at least 2 weeks notice of an absence unless an emergency or illness
  • Enjoys children and working with them, as well as art
  • Available to attend the annual Ambassador Education Training/Refresher
The Assistant Teacher: Art Department position would be a good fit for someone who has been involved in the Ambassador Program and who has a passion for children and art, and wants to be in the art classroom. It is a great opportunity to learn more about classroom management, how to create and implement weekly lesson plans for the art classes, and run classes with assistance from the Teachers. Upon successful completion of this appointment, candidates may  become an Art Teacher, Substitute Teacher, or an Education Support Trainer once 18 years old.
Qualifications:
  • Must be 14 years of age or older and meet all Artistic Assistant Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled at Modern Motion (or previously completed classes and received authorization from the Director of Operations/Manager) 
  • Have at least 1 year of Artistic Assistant experience
  • Available a minimum of 2+ hours per week for assigned sessions: 
  • Time in classroom for regularly scheduled class
  • Additional time working with the Art Teacher on various classroom management skillsDemonstrated skills in classroom management  
  • Knowledge of the flow of the class and ability to teach multiple art styles under the supervision of the Teacher
  • Available to attend the annual Ambassador Education Training/Refresher

DANCE DEPARTMENT

​The Classroom Assistant position would be a good fit for a first time Assistant who would like to get involved in the Ambassador Program who wants to be in the classroom. It would also be a good fit for someone who wants to be involved in the classroom, but may not be ready or interested in learning the exercises, dance, or be an active dance participant in the class. It is a great opportunity to learn the basics of our Education Support Program, and how our Assistants work within the classroom.
Qualifications:
  • Must be 10 years of age or older
  • Currently enrolled at Modern Motion
  • ​Available a minimum of 1-2 hours per week for assigned sessions
  • Have a working knowledge of iTunes (or is willing to be taught by the Program Manager)
  • Able to complete simple tasks with minimal supervision once given direction
  • Must be friendly and respectful of co-workers, students, and parents, and are able to work cooperatively with others
  • Must be able to provide at least 2 weeks notice of an absence unless an emergency or illness
  • Enjoys children and working with them
  • Available to attend the annual Ambassador Education Training/Refresher
The Teaching Assistant position would be a good fit for a seasoned Classroom Assistant who would like to get more involved in the classroom experience. It would also be a good fit for someone who wants to participate in the exercises, dances, and be an overall active dance participant in the class. It is a great opportunity to learn the next steps of our Education Support Program, and become a more active participant within the classroom.
Qualifications:
  • ​Must be 11 years of age or older and meet all Classroom Assistant Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled at Modern Motion (or previously completed classes and received authorization from the Director of Operations/Manager)
  • Have a minimum of 6 months - 1 year of Classroom Assistant experience
  • Available a minimum of 1-3 hours per week for assigned sessions
  • Demonstrate proper dance technique and knowledge of terminology during enrolled class, an excellent attendance record free from tardiness, and reflect the values of the school
  • Able to learn exercises to take lead in class when necessary
  • Able to memorize choreography and rehearse at home to demonstrate during class
  • ​Available to attend the annual Ambassador Education Training/Refresher.
The Acro Associate position would be a good fit for a Teaching Assistant, or higher, who is interested in becoming certified in the ADTA’s Associate Teacher Training Program. It’s a chance to learn the skills needed to confidently step into the studio and ensure our students can experience a safe, effective, and fun Acro class. Working closely with the Lead Teacher, you will learn skills needed  to encourage and train strong technique in acrobats. This position will develop your skills as an assistant, but also learn how to eventually lead and run your own Acro class once 18 years old.
Qualifications:
  • Must be 13 years of age or older and meet all Classroom Assistant & Teaching Assistant Qualifications (see above)
  • Have at least 1 year experience in an Acro Class and currently enrolled at Modern Motion (or previously completed classes and received authorization from the Director of Operations/Manager) 
  • ​Attend the Ambassador Education Training/Refresher.
  • Available a minimum of 2+ hours per week for assigned sessions: 
    • Time in the classroom for regularly scheduled class
    • Additional time working with the Program Director and/or Teacher on various classroom management skills
  • Demonstrated skills in classroom management  
  • Knowledge of the flow of the class and ability to teach multiple exercises/skills under the supervision of the Teacher
  • Able to memorize choreography for enrolled classes and all classes for which he/she assists, rehearsing at home and fully prepared to perform on stage independent of the Teacher
​The Assistant Teacher: Dance Department position would be a good fit for a seasoned Teaching Assistant who would like to assume more responsibility within the Ambassador Program or pursue becoming a dance teacher. Candidates will learn the next steps of our Education Support Program, and  to be able to run a class by themselves. Upon successful completion of this appointment, candidates may  become a Dance Teacher, Substitute Teacher, or an Education Support Trainer once 18 years old.
Qualifications:
  • Must be 14 years of age or older and meet all Classroom Assistant & Teaching Assistant Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled at Modern Motion (or previously completed with authorization from the Program Director)
  • Have at least 2 years of Teacher Assistant experience
  • Available a minimum of 2+ hours per week for assigned sessions:
    • ​Time in classroom for regularly scheduled class
    • Additional time working with the Program Director and/or Teacher on various classroom management skills
  • Demonstrated skills in classroom management  
  • ​Knowledge of the flow of the class and ability to teach multiple exercises/skills under the supervision of the Teacher
  • ​Able to memorize choreography for enrolled classes and all classes for which he/she assists, rehearsing at home and fully prepared to perform on stage independent of the Teacher
  • ​Available to attend the annual Ambassador Education Training/Refresher.
